This November, PPC traveled to Capitol Hill to meet with Members of Congress and  Congressional Staffers to discuss healthcare, airport revenue and Childhood Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Members of the Johns Hopkins University Chapter met with those from the University of Pennsylvania and first visited the offices of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) in Northern Virginia.

Greeted with a box of doughnuts, PPC talked with AAAE executives about the type of work they do as well as various career-related advice. This opportunity helped the members receive insights into PFC taxes and airport infrastructure funding opportunities from policy veterans with decades of backgrounds in aviation policies at the Capitol Hill. The training session helped PPC members prepare for the subsequent meetings in Congress on PFC taxes and airport revenue.  

In the afternoon, the members of PPC traveled back to the Hill where they began their long schedule of advocacy meetings. Hustling across the Capitol between meetings, PPC had a busy day filled with positive responses from Republican and Democratic Members of Congress and Congressional staffers. The highlight of the advocacy day was the one-on-one meetings with Senator Johnson and Casey at which PPC members asked questions about their public service experiences and delivered the prepared policy research on CHIP. 

The event was another outstanding opportunity for all of our members to stay engaged in the policy discourse in Washington. This was also the first joint event coordinated by the chapters of different PPC member schools - UPenn and Hopkins.
